keep me

Keep Me by Lucy Schwartz on Grooveshark
This song has been keeping me company lately. It's haunting and beautiful and it sits on my heart just right right now.

Life has been hard lately, friends.

It's difficult to come up with the words to explain without sounding like I'm all capable of is complaining, so "hard" is the best I have right now.

Thank you to all of you who have [virtually] kept me company these past few days while Ben has been gone. It's been so nice to get your encouraging tweets and Instagram comments. I'm thankful for all of your friendships.

I know that in the face of all of this Hurricane Sandy devastation, my problems are small, but I didn't get that job that I interviewed for a few weeks ago. It seemed like the perfect opportunity, and I thought I did well when I met them, and to be turned down even though I'm more than qualified is kind of awful. I've never been turned down for a job that I really wanted before. And because I'm lost and vulnerable [and to be honest, hormonal], this raises all sorts of questions about where I belong, what am I doing with my life, what the heck is God's plan for me, does He even care, etc. All things that are a Big Deal.

And then when I get my truck stuck in a ditch, realize that I forgot to do homework for a grad school class I've only been in for 3 weeks, and know I have to go home to a husband-less house? That's all just the icing on my very sad cake.

I'm really trying to see the positive. For example, there was a nice D.O.T guy right down the road this morning that pulled me out of the ditch with a backhoe. And on my way to work, I treated myself to a really delicious burger and milkshake. And as soon as I leave the office today, I'm heading home to do nothing but lay on my couch all night and not talk to a damn person. So there are good things. There are definitely good things.

They're just hard to stay focused on right now.

dance it out

Sometimes, on a Monday, you leave your house without shoes on by accident and don't notice until you're all the way out to the garage, getting your bike.

You ride into town to get your hair cut [woo bangs!], stop at the grocery store after, and then get home to realize you left the beef you just bought at the store, which is the whole reason why you went there in the first place.

You decide to just drive the car back to the store to save time, but can't find the key anywhere, which is when you realize that your husband took the one and only key to the car with him to school.

You call in to work and explain that you have no way of getting there, hang up the phone, and turn this song on.

Sometimes, you just need to dance it out.

Ho Hey by The Lumineers on Grooveshark

and that's it

some days i just don't have words.
i fumble over them, i stutter, i mumble.
there seems to be a disconnect between my heart and my brain and my mouth.

and today, i'm not in a mood to try to force it.
to be honest, i just want to get over to my sick boyfriend's house and take care of him.
but i'll be listening to this the whole way there.

i'm yours and that's it, forever.

the longer the waiting, the sweeter the kiss

josh turner knows how to sing a love song.
i don't care whether you like country music or not, these songs will make any girl swoon.
they're perfect.

even if the videos are absolute cheeseballs.

"oh the longer the waiting, the sweeter the kiss.
it's better my darling, i promise you this"

"in my dreams, your dreams are the only things that really matter to me.
when you smile, i smile,
what makes you happy makes me happy too.
in my dreams, your dreams come true"

"as long as we can say i do, i’m gonna marry you
and be the luckiest man on this earth.
well i can’t wait much longer, let’s find a church"

lucky for me, b knows how to play the guitar.
and he's a pretty cute singer too :)

later dudes.

you go to my head

welcome to the first day of summer break!!!
today i'm thankful for:

un) new good music i constantly find through Flowerchild Dwelling and Miss Moss
right now i'm listening to Flowerchild Dwelling's guest post of a wedding reception playlist.
it's just good music, okay?

deux) date night with my man tonight!
he's up on base and i'm going up there for the evening to have some fun in oh canada.
i just love this kid and am cherishing all of the time we spend together until he goes away.

trois) a morning to just lounge around in bed and have nothing i need to get done.

quatre) we had a beautiful day of sunshine and slightly warmer weather yesterday.
and it looks like it's all uphill from here!

cinq) my final loan came through so i can pay off my france bill today
and buy my plane ticket
there's less than a month left!
it's getting so reallllll!

six) a little sister that i can share clothes with.
seriously, she's 5 years younger than me, but God made us the same size for a reason.
what would we do without each other?

sept) people who read this thing.
and especially comment.
i blog as a way to put all of the pretty things in my life in one place,
but it's nice to know that other people like it as much as i do :)
thanks guys.

huit) fresh, clean, warm, summer air.
this newfound warm-ish weather means i can finally drive with the windows down
and open up all of the windows in my room.
it makes me feel more alive.

neuf) feeling skinny.
seriously, i've done nothing lately that should make me feel healthier, but for some reason, today is a skinny day.
thank god skinny day and date night align.

dix) friends who graduate tomorrow.
i'm not happy they're leaving, but i am super proud of them.
plus once they're gone, that makes me an official senior.
holy crap.

et onze) flowers.comme ca.{like this}

both from here

time to go shower and get moving on my day.
such a wonderful day it's going to be.
-wildchild

just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight

i have so much going on in my little mind, i'm not sure where to start.
so #1) we'll go with this new song by lady antebellum.
it's perfect.
press play, then keep reading.
it'll make your experience ten times better.

#2) b's leaving in about a week probably.
maybe a little less.
it's kind of a guessing game from here.
but so we've been having little get togethers with my fam to say goodbye.
i love these kids
i'm counting on them to keep me sane these next 5 months.

#3) i ordered earrings from two little doves shop on etsy and they came today!
such cute little roses.
maybe they'll be the replacement for the fake pearl earrings from claires
that i've been wearing for the past 4 years.
i love them.
and also, the owner of this shop is so sweet.
my earrings came fast and packaged prettily.
i'd buy from her again.

#4) this from here.

the end.
goodnight.

stay with me

welcome to sunday!
one of the best days of the week, but still overshadowed by it's siblings:
friday and saturday.
also, wednesday.
don't ask why, but i'm a wednesday kind of girl.

we'll start things out with a playlist:
country music may or may not dominate these jams.
sue me.
country love songs are obviously the best love songs.

welcome to my summer home.
i found out earlier this month that all of
june and july, i'll be studying abroad in antibbes, france.
the south of france, on the riviera.
how did this become my life?

Love Wall, Montmartre
i'll probably visit this wall of love in Montmarte,
graffiti'd with "i love you" in a zillion different languages.
adorable.
p.s. this photograph is from here

wear this dress
(if i win the lottery before my trip, that is)

and write love letters to my deployed airman with this quote:

"your love makes my soul crawl out of its hiding place"

cause it's true.

-wildchild

it feels so right, now hold me tight.

welp.
after like 2 months, i finally remembered i had this blog.
i would apologize, but i think maybe like two people read it.
so i'm over it.

december was crazy.
the beginning was the end of my semester:
reading, writing, projects, presentations, tests.
yuck.
then break finally came around and i was the laziest girl ever.
i had a prison break marathon with b

what's not to love?
we have michael's hot tattoos and his even hotter brain.
and lincoln... just look at him.
my sister and i had a The Office marathon, plowing through seasons 1-3 and half of 4.
i slept in everyday, read on my awesome Nook, shopped (!), and more.
it was out of control.
 the dream winter break.
The best part was spending so much time with my family.
With my parents not together, that adds a few extra Christmases, so i"m pretty sure we had a total of 7 celebrations? maybe 8? i certainly can't keep track.

now, it's back to school.
my musical opened last weekend and we had a really good time.
another show was last night, followed by a cute little sleepover; now there's two more and we're all done. how sad.
i'm glad i did it.
classes should be interesting this semester, and i'm working a ton.
i'm searching around to find the best program to run away to france this summer.
there's so many factors that go into it, and i'm scared it might get too expensive, but we'll see.
i have to go.
i've wanted to do this for forever, and b's gonna be deployed in some dumb middle eastern country for the whole stinking summer (plus some), so i have to get the heck out of here.

anyways.
dreams:

 from here
running around barefoot here, hopping on this bike to race to the beach with my sister, jumping in the ocean, laying out on the sand to dry our hair and turn a beautiful bronze.
i can just picture it now.

Photobucket
from here
my gosh. the braid. the dress. the flower crown. the field. can this please be me?

flowers in car 2
from here
this is what my room looks like after a weekend of shows. both sets of parents, plus my wonderful boyfriend brought me beautiful flowers so it's like a garden up in here. i love it.

from here
i love you

and lastly, a song:
so much fun to dance around to while you're getting ready. try it.

who wants to make bets as to the next time i update?

-wildchild

awake my soul

i'm bad at this blog thing.
i don't have the commitment willpower to sit down and write every day, or every other, or even every week.
i realized when was contemplating quitting the musical that i have commitment issues.
not typical "woe is me, i can't keep a relationship" love commitment issues.
but time commitment issues.
the idea that i have to do something  at a certain time annoys the crap out of me.
how i know i have rehearsal at this time, these days, every single week is so frustrating!
who wants to be the person that says "nope, at these times, every single week for 3 months i'm busy."?
i want to be able to run away when i want to!
i want to have the ability to be spontaneous!
i don't want to be tied downnnnn!

anyways, enough complaining.

today i decided i would share with the world [or the 2 people i think read this] what blogs i read.
these are the ones that
 a) made me fall in love with the idea of blogging in the first place
or
 b) reduce my homework productivity dramatically because i check them obsessively to see if they've posted any new, witty, gorgeous words/pictures/clothes/ideas for me to be envious of.
tada!

some of these are lifestyle blogs, some fashion blogs, some wedding blogs, most combination blogs.
and the last is to Glamour magazine's website, which has billions of awesome mini blog posts.
 but all are awesome blogs.
hope these 12 links don't take over your internet history as much as they have mine.
happy reading!

<3 wildchild

p.s. my hot boyfriend, b, got a motorcycle!
soon enough, this will be us.

[from Kissssing]

except cooler.
so actually like this:

okay. bye for real <3

at home

today is a good day.
because:
the sun was shining when i woke up, on my way to class and even now,
it's the perfect crisp temperature for fall,
my time with jesus has been really fulfilling lately,
good hair days are always a miracle,
this boy is the cutest in the world
and he loves me.

i haven't had much time for blogging lately because i'm in a musical!
i saw signs around campus that the community theatre was doing 42nd Street and i thought
"i did that in high school. i miss tapping. i love tapping! hooray!"
so i auditioned and you're looking at a member of the tappity tap dance ensemble.
as my friends know, i frequently complain about going to rehearsal and i even contemplated quitting,
but i've decided that when i'm there i love it, so i'm sticking with it.
i love being a dancer again.
i did it from when i was 3 all through high school.
that's who i am.
i'm so excited to dress up and get my hair and make up done again and wear gaudy costumes and have people come watch me dance my little feet off.
so if you hear me complaining, ignore it.
i secretly love every part of it.

in other news, even though i haven't written about it, i've still made time for feeling alive.
this has been done in corn maizes, wrapped up with b in the bed of his truck star gazing, road trips, reading wonderful books, having chatty dates with my girls, tappin away, drinking as much coffee disguised as chocolate as Garlock and my bank account will allow, and falling in love with this song:
it's adorable.

also adorable is this picture:

[from the Kissssing blog]

for some reason, photos where the world keeps going and people in love seem in their own little world make me giddy.
and starting from the moment little girls realize there are boys and there are girls and they're meant to fall in love,
we can't stay away from anything that gives us that little pitter patter in our hearts.

so i'm off to have a little phone date with b,
who makes me giddy every time i see his name pop up on my cell phone screen and every time he's walking towards me.
enjoy this beautiful autumn day!

-wildchild

crash into me

oh what a weekend.
as of wednesday, i finally have my boy back in my arms.
and it feels so good.
so the past 5 days have been spent with him.
making up for lost time.
doing life together.
being in love.

sometimes i feel like my heart is going to explode because of everything i'm feeling.
so for now, a song that i can't stop listening to.

that's all i have.
love wins.
for real.

if i have not love, i am nothing.

i've decided that amongst my lively life, there needs to be time taken out for inspiration.
this summer held a lot of soul searching and self-realization
and i found that i'm a dreamer.
i'm sure the people who know me could have told you that years ago, but i finally realized just how alive i feel when i use some of the time God has given me
to find beautiful things and read beautiful words and look at beautiful love stories.
so this new blog is my way of keeping all of the things that melt my heart in one place.

this is my first time keeping a blog.
and your first time reading my blog.
so let's take some time to get acquainted.

i'm a woman, therefore i frequently change my mind.
but as of tonight, here is one of each of my favorite things:

it's images like these that take my breath away.

HS Hunter Brittney14

love captured so perfectly.
so hauntingly.
clay austin is one of my favorite photographers.
he takes captivating pictures and writes enchanting words on his blog here:
go be inspired to fall in love.
then come back to me.

this song absolutely makes my heart turn to mush:
sing this to me and i'm putty in your hands.
(note: this applies to b only. :) )

Some men dream of crossing oceans
Some men dream one day to fly
Spend their whole lives out there floating on the water and the sky

Some men dream of building fortunes
Some men dream of having fame
Nothing else is more important then making money and a name

but, In my dreams, I see
A little sky blue house beside a small stream
A front porch, a screen door,
The sound of barefeet running and cartoons.
In my dreams, your dreams come true

I come find you in your garden
Pulling weeds between the rows
Trade a kiss for a glass of water
Sit and watch what love can grow

In my dreams, I see
A little sky blue house beside a small stream
A front porch, a screen door,
The sound of barefeet running and cartoons.
In my dreams, your dreams come true

In my dreams, your dreams
Are the only things that really matter to me
When you smile, i smile
What makes you happy makes me happy too
In my dreams, your dreams come true

-"in my dreams" by josh turner

a poem that resonates every time i read and reread it:
(by robert kogar)

i want you to wear me
comfortably.
as you would a dress,
or the silver necklace that you wear
around your neck.
comfortably, so that i am always
next to you:
but most important-
something you decide
each morning to select.

and a field of wildflowers i want nothing more than to go sit and read in:

the photographer i mentioned earlier, Clay Austin, writes about "The Goodness".
i don't remember his exact words because going back now, i can't find the original post on it.
but as i remember it, "The Goodness" refers to the moment when we find something so beautiful and so perfect, we can't help but stop.
we look at this Goodness and revel in it and thank God that there are beautiful things in the world that make our hearts both beat faster and stop at the same time.
i live for finding my own Goodness every day.
i wish i could come up with my own name for it, so i wouldn't feel so much like
i'm stealing Mr. Austin's thoughts.
but for now, please go search for The Goodness in your life.
and when you find it, cherish it.

for now, i have some college kid things i have to attend to.
like homework. and more homework.
but i'll be back when the inspiration strikes.
love.
