lately

this pretty autumn view is from my run last night.

Besides our trip to New York this weekend, life lately has been wonderfully and busily calm. I know that's an oxymoron, but hear me out:

As I've mentioned before, I work two part-time jobs, and Ben is taking classes at the SUNY college in the next town over, so we're a busy little couple. It can be hard to find time to spend a good chunk of time together at home, especially with our kickball league every Wednesday night. It sometimes feels like we're never home.

This is why Tuesday and Thursday mornings have become my favorite time of the week. Ben doesn't have class until night time and when I have to work those days, it's not until noon, so we have the whole morning to spend together. I usually wake up first and spend some time on my computer, catching up on e-mails and blogging, but when Ben rolls out of bed, I put my computer away. We pour ourselves a bowl of cereal and enjoy our time of having nothing to do. Sometimes we go out to the front porch and eat while we watch out neighbors walk by, or sometimes we eat on the couch, cuddled up, watching a movie. It's never anything fancy, but it's our time.

Being a working girl makes it hard to spend time with my husband, but I'm trying hard to make sure that there is time. Every once in a while, we go for a walk into town and along the canal, or we run errands together, or we have a few spare hours to curl up and watch a movie. Those fleeting moments are my favorite ones. We're making time for each other and that's what I'm going to remember about this autumn: those sweet little moments in between the chaos of real life.

Somehow the chaos makes it all the more to savor, doesn't it? I'm glad you've got those bits of time together newlywedding :)
