life lately

happy Monday, friends!

after a weekend of working at my new job, having fun with our friends, and spending time with Ben and his Air Force buddies up on base, it's a relaxing morning for me here at home. this balance of work, play and relaxing has actually been a good balance lately and I'm loving it. this is what life has looked like:
left: I sent out my first Etsy shop order a few weeks ago and it felt so good!

right: a lunch break braid on a sunny day.
left: going to the Public Market on Saturday mornings has become a thing. I love how pretty it looks all laid out and our bodies love how healthy it feels.

right: date nights have been less frequent, as we're trying to budget our money, but when we do go, they're always damn good. and Ben is always the cutest one around.
left: cooking is the more important skill to have, but I'm all over the baking. I could make brownies for days. it helps that they're from a box and really good whether you actually bake them or not.

right: we had Ben's parents over for dinner for the first time last week. entertaining in our new place is a lot of fun, but super squished, as you can probably tell from the table/counter placement.
left: I've been holding on to the last bits of summer, but I have to say that these beginning, crisp days of autumn aren't bad at all.

right: I'm on a smoothie kick lately. they're healthy, easy, and delicious. I'll be sharing the simple recipe tomorrow.
left: again, I love the baking. and this dough was so good that we ate half of it before we put it in the oven.

right: Ben got all fancy for an internship interview. I just laid in bed and helped him pick out his outfit. I'm such a good wife.
left: I made this Roasted Tomato & Garlic Soup a while ago and froze it until the weather cooled down a little bit and I could justify putting hot liquids into my body. now it's that time and I'm loving it. I'll share this recipe sometime soon as well.

right: it was Family Day on base yesterday, so Ben put on his dress blues for the first time since Basic and I went to go see what exactly goes on up there. not to crush anyone's dreams or anything, but it was a lot of drinking and a lot of sitting around. I liked it.

and that is that! we're figuring out this married life one day at a time and it's been a lot of fun. lazy Sunday, pasta for dinner, ten minute tidy up the house fun. this is exactly what I'd always hoped for.

Thanks for sharing a little about your life lately with us! I totally want to make soup now. Luckily the weather is supposed to be in the 60's all week so soup will be great! Thanks for linking up with us! Come back every other Monday ;)

There is nothing wrong with sitting around and having a few drinks - nothing!

I've been on an autumn cooking/baking kick lately. It's my favorite time of year, and I no longer dread having the oven on.
